The Lady Flavelle Youth Art Education Fund

The Lady Flavelle Youth Art Education Fund was instituted in 1983 to honour the memory of the founder of Kingcrafts Studio, Lady Muriel Flavelle.  Lady Flavelle was a passionate promoter of the arts and a pioneer in establishing a dedicated place in King City for artists to develop their skills and share a space to encourage mutual support and education.

The Initiative

The Lady Flavelle Youth Art Education Fund supports Grade 12 art students from King City Secondary School by providing unique, hands-on artistic experiences that broaden their creative horizons. This also provides the opportunity for students to envision ways in which art can be part of their adult lives.

Facilitating Experiential Learning

Each year, students are invited to the Kingcrafts Studio for a day of exploration, where they engage in up to two art forms not currently offered in their high school art program.

This experiential learning opportunity is designed to inspire and enrich young artists by giving them access to specialized materials, expert demonstrations, and personalized instruction from educators within the Kingcrafts community. The fund covers all supplies, required equipment and demonstrations, ensuring that every student can fully participate and immerse themselves in the artistic process.

By bridging the gap between high school curricula and the broader world of art, The Lady Flavelle Youth Art Education Fund empowers the next generation of creators and fosters a deeper appreciation for the arts in our community.
